Perin Investigationsadfs announces award of 8(a) certification.

First Native American owned e-discovery and litigation support business to earn certification.

DENVER, Colorado – Perin Investigations, a Colorado-based e-discovery and litigation support company, is proud to announce it has received 8(a) certification from the Small business Administration. With its acceptance into the 8(a) program, Perin becomes the first Native American owned company in this category in the country.

The announcement follows a rigorous five-month effort from initial application submission to the final acceptance for this selective federal program. According to a 2020 SBA report, there are 31.7 mil. small businesses in the United States. Only 6,374 have successfully received their 8(a) certification, and only 157 in Colorado.

“Clearly, this is a huge accomplishment and we are excited for the opportunities it will bring,” said Peter Smith, President of Perin Investigations. “We are proud to be the first and only Native American-owned e-discovery and litigation support company to have gained its 8(a) certification, and look forward to supporting agencies who experience trigger events like litigation, FOIA’s, investigations, congressional inquiries and other administrative needs.”

Perin was formed in 2018 and provides electronic discovery, forensic data analysis, and data collection services to both the private and public sectors. With 8(a) certification, Perin will compete for set-aside and sole-sourced federal contracts for a maximum of nine years. The program also provides assistance from the SBA in navigating federal contracting, guidance in forming joint ventures, and management assistance, including business training, counseling, marketing assistance and high-level executive development.
